Top Gear Accident Report
Top Gear (Proof Reading and Opinion Writing) - PowerPoint and worksheets.
This great little resource is designed to help (especially male) learners develop proof reading skills and can be used to raise awareness of the importance of punctuation in writing. The 10 slide PowerPoint presentation uses the report from the investigation into the Top Gear accident in which Richard Hammond was seriously injured. The report has been re-written with capital letters missing and students must identify the errors and insert the correct punctuation. The report is downloadable as a printable worksheet for learners to use. Students then have a written task which requires them to produce a short piece of writing expressing an opinion about the incident. The PowerPoint provides ideas and prompts to help learners write an opinion piece. The resource's content has been designed to help reluctant boys engage with literacy skills.
This excellent little resource can be used when working on Non-fiction texts and general punctuation skills.
