Sonnets - Year 5 and 6
Sonnets - Year 5 / Year 6
This KS2 teaching resource explores sonnets in a fun and engaging way. To begin with, it provides an example of a Shakespearian sonnet and explains the 'rules' of sonnets. It then provides a task that asks children to explore an example sonnet and discuss its structure and language.
The second half of the lesson helps children write their own sonnet. Learners are given a scaffolded approach and an example to help them construct a class and then an individual poem.
The resource is differentiated using 'Gold', 'Silver' and 'Bronze' activities to help all children achieve.
